Southeast Texas Bamboo Festival / Kathina Celebration
November 4 and 5, 2006 9:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
Buu Mon Buddhist Temple invites you to the first annual “Southeast Texas Bamboo Festival”, co-hosted by the Texas Bamboo Society. The Bamboo Festival will be held on the same weekend as our Kathina robe offering ceremony, and will encourage “bamboo culture” in Southeast Texas.
The two-day event will feature members of the Texas Bamboo society sharing their knowledge of the appreciation, use, and availability of bamboo in our area, and sales of a variety of bamboo plants, products and related wares.
On Sunday, November 5th, at 10:00 am, please join us for the Kathina ceremony, as monks will perform a ceremonial alms round and be presented with new robes.
There will be a complimentary vegetarian lunch on Sunday, offered to all who attend the festival and celebration.
Buu Mon Temple’s gardens will be open to the public on both Saturday and Sunday.
